Starting out as a railroad town, with little growth for many years...things changed in the mid 90's in Frisco. Frisco sits on Hwy 289, which is know as Preston Road. Being on Preston Road has always been an advantage for towns positioned North of Dallas. Being located on both Hwy 121 and Preston road was an advantage to builders and commercial developers, and in the mid 90's everything changed.
Opening in August of 2000 was the prize jewel to the local area, Stonebriar Mall. With the mall came other large shopping area's and restaurants. With new jobs being brought to the area came the residential market. Frisco is divided by the North Dallas Tollway which runs North to South. The city's original downtown sits on the North end of town just East of the tollway. In the 90's the Frisco real estate market developed with large subdivisions such as The Plantation, Starwood, and Stonebriar Estates. In the early 2000's the West side of town developed with Westfalls Village and The Trails.
